Hat, scarf and gloves are absolutely necessary clothes accessories in the winter. In my childhood, online shopping was not very convenient. The children always like to steal mom’s woolen yarn to knit scarves and gloves. Even if they are very ugly finally, I am not tired of that. Nowadays, it has lost the fun since we are getting used to buying all things online.

Here is our last String Art Tutorial of Christmas series. For exploring creative patterns, be sure not to miss our special column: 10 Best Christmas string art ideas. Merry Christmas to all of my loved friends.

String Art Kits

In the past, I used a massive length of the article to describe hammering. Today, I would like to make some introduction about the string art kit according to that tutorial. The kit includes all materials and tools you need. It is worth mentioning that the hammer can be reused many times. Generally, the seller will prepare enough quantities of nails and threads. Unless there is a lot of waste by our mistake.

And do not cut down the thread into many pieces. Since the cords may short when you want to string it again. What’s more, it will take you a lot of time to tie a knot and the appearance is not good. As for hammering, knock the nails well one time. Otherwise the pre-drilled holes will turn to be looser if you pull it out for many times.

String Bowknot

On the top, there is a cute bowknot for decoration. Here is the starter for winding. In order to stand out the cord, I decided to use the 8-word bilateral method, which has a detailed demonstration in the video tutorials. With the longer green cord, it seems like a pair of gloves are hanging on the wall.

I don’t cut down the cord while finishing the whole green area. You can see green cords clearly in the overlap of two gloves, which can be covered totally if I border the edge. Because of the oval shape, it’s very suitable to wrap with the uniform method. Every winding is N-shape (uniform method) to pave evenly.I’d advise you not to string it in a transverse direction. As it turns out, it’s very ugly.

String A Pair of Gloves

As seen from the photos, there are three layers to the main part of gloves, A, B and C. We start winding from outside to inside. To the outer section A, first outline the shape of gloves. Then start to wrap arbitrarily around nails in that area. Make sure that every nail has 4-5 times of winding, which can guarantee enough density.

The second step is to finish section B, inner gloves. In sharp contrast, the second layer we use pink color. Since every nail will be wrapped many times. For fear that the thread slid off nails frequently, I choose not to outline the inner shape of gloves. Directly wrap cords between A and C. Remember not to fill the snowflake with threads if you like a hollow style. If there is enough space for every nail, I will border the edge.

The last is to wrap the snowflake with white thread. An 8-word bilateral method is ok. The whole process can be completed in several minutes. Actually, we can treat it as a simple border edge way. Since it’s one of the Christmas string art series, we choose the snowflake element purposely as decoration in the middle. There is 6-petal snow in total. Every petal will start from the central nail and follow the same law of middle-left-right. Finally, be careful to tie a knot on the center nail. Cut down the tread and finish the second one.

After completing the gloves string art, it reminded me of the mason jar string art. At that time, a creative idea was born from the bottom of my heart. Except for decorating it with some Christmas ornaments and string light. Can I let it hold some flowers and leaves? The flower vase, hanging it on the wall or placing it on the desk. The answer is affirmative. It is not only a Christmas supporting role, but it’s a minor role in all seasons.
