Outline Shape with Nails
From the trace of pre-drilled holes, we found the 12 hearts are displayed in compact arrangement on a wood board. It makes no doubt, we start to knock nails from hearts one by one. In order to prevent fingers from getting hit, I recommend you use a clothespin to help pinch nails. In the future, you are addicted to that worthless tool. I remember the first time many nails were twisted on the board. Of course, it is a terrible craft. Later, I found out casting a sidelong glance is a good way to check if the nails are kept at uniform height when hammering.

The second step is to outline the house. And there is a mini heart in the house. There are no nails as a bridge between hearts and house. It doesn’t matter to add a row of nails here if you like. I would be happy to share my experience with you. When those nails are too narrow to hold well, remember to rotate the board during the whole process.
Outline Heart Shape with Thread
Since it uses 6 bright colors for all hearts, the most troublesome thing is needing to change the thread continuously. That is inconvenient and time wasting. It will be very simple if there is a single color string for all hearts. But I still like the colorful balloon. As we saw, there are 6 colors of thread and 12 hearts. Every color will be used two times. So I decided to wrap a single color at one time and cut down the end of the thread after it was completed.
Since all hearts overlie each other, the heart shapes are irregular. We’d better choose an interleaving method with high density to fill in. Except for a green heart, it was finished with a uniform method. Both of them don’t have a big difference on apperance.
Pink is the first choice. After finish a pink heart, wrap thread around blue heart, then wrap thread around another pink heart. Rest assured the blue cord will be covered under the pink cord in the end.

Here is the right color order roughly I have tried. Pink-pink, Yellow-yellow, Sky Blue-sky blue, Blue-blue, Green-green, Red-red. When using red, after finishing the first heart, we need to cut down the thread. Later tie a knot again and start to wrap.

As before, start to outline the heart shape, then begin to fill it by criss-crossing and wrapping around nails. No rhyme or law to obey. During the whole process, remember to keep one hand holding the winding pen for wrapping, as well as the other hand pulling the thread tightly. It’s a common phenomenon to experience the string running out of nails sometimes. It doesn’t matter, just do it again. Remember to put a line to the roof after completing a heart.

Outline House Shape with Thread
Firstly, I fill the house shape with gold thread. Compared with the cotton thread, the gold cord is brighter. Keep in mind, do not let the gold cord cover the heart while wrapping. I try to use a uniform method on some regular areas. When you are satisfied with the finished string art crafts, make sure to wrap the cording and tie a knot around the last nail.
Next is to finish the heart embedded. Outline the heart simply, and then fill it with a red cord. Then tie the end of the thread into a knot around a nail head tightly, and cut the end of the string with scissors or lighter.
